The 2008 Great Cardboard Boat Race was held Bridgefest Weekend on the Houghton waterfront. A variety of craft were used, including the return appearances of the boats representing the cities of Hancock and Houghton. Although not all of cardboard craft survived, all of the captains and mates safely made it back to solid ground.
