Walt Vollmecke funeral : My late sister's husband, Walt Vollmecke, passed away at his beloved farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in early February, 2008. Here are photos of the military funeral and interment at the farm, honoring Walt's service as a USAF airman in the Korean War. His son Kirk, (Col.,USA) currently serving in Baghdad, was able to return for services. His older son Eric (Brig. Gen. (sel), USAF WVANG), arranged for the honor guard from his former Wing, the 167th, based in Martinsburg, WV. A celebration of Walt's life is being planned for this summer, after Kirk's return.
