A house at the corner of Waylene and Royalewood, Portage Township, Houghton County, Michigan, caught fire the evening of Saturday, April 12, 2008. The owner, a retired Michigan Tech professor, escaped with smoke inhalation and minor burns. Hurontown Fire and Rescue was the lead responder, assisted by Houghton Police, Mercy Ambulance, UPPCO, the American Red Cross and others.
