Mt. Bohemia, surely the gnarliest ski area between the Rockies and New England, is found near the outer tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, jutting into Lake Superior. Double and triple black diamond runs drop steeply through wooded glades and over rock bands. At 900 feet of vertical, it has one of the greatest verticals in the Heartland. It's location assures deep snows (often more than 300 inches a year) and incredible lake-effect powder (snow-water ratios are up to 40:1). Here are views of the autumn spectacle at Mt.
